Does my HDB flat need a fire rated main door? Is Fire-rated main door compulsory is the most common questions asked by home owners.

Your primary entrance aligns with the fire escape route, connecting to passageways like the lift lobby and staircase in your HDB building.
A general guideline suggests that if your HDB main door is situated within a 3-meter radius from the nearest lift or staircase, you'll require a half-hour fire-rated door.
Additionally, it's essential to ensure that you employ an authorized HDB contractor, such as our team, to install your fire-rated door. We'll handle the HDB permit application on your behalf before proceeding with the fire-rated door replacement.
However, if your main door is situated more than 3 meters away from the nearest lift or staircase, a solid wooden door for your main entrance will suffice, and there's no need to undergo the HDB permit application process.

When replacing a fire-rated door, it is mandatory to incorporate specific features. The newly installed fire-rated door must include a self-closing mechanism, commonly known as a door closer. Additionally, it must bear an accreditor label, a sticker that is affixed subsequent to installation and inspection.
Furthermore, in contrast to the typical press lockset, the fire-rated door will be equipped with a stainless steel lock. This stainless steel lock offers advantages such as resistance to tarnishing and the capability to withstand elevated temperatures during a potential fire incident.
